Binge, Stream or Skip? Drama Review // Intense Love《韫色过浓》

You can watch the trailer above or start watching  episode one here . Warning! Spoilers ahead. I didn't really watch this on 2x speed but I have to admit that there were a couple of scenes that I probably wasn't paying much attention to while watching. Honestly, the first couple of episodes almost had me quit on this show but I wasn't sure why I held on. Hahaha maybe because of the visuals of the lead actor and actress. On a whole, I would say that this drama is stream-able . Synopsis: A doctor and an actress, whose parents have long arranged for them to get married. Initially, both parties were unwilling for the marriage to happen. However, after an accident that landed the actress in the hospital where her supposed fiancé works at, she fell in love at first sight with her attending doctor not knowing who he is. What I like about this drama: testContractual marriage. Anything that has contractual marriage, a good-looking CEO as the male lead, I like. This drama is one of...

Binge, Stream or Skip? Drama Review // Love at Night《夜色暗涌时》

You can watch the trailer above or start watching episode one here on Youtube.

Warning! Spoilers ahead.

So I got interested in this drama initially because of the female lead. I first watched her on Intense Love and found her really pretty, and her acting skills ain't too bad so I thought I'd watch another drama of hers. As much as I love the actress, I actually came to somewhat appreciate the male lead too, so it is streamable however, not too far off from being skippable. The plot is quite typical like most other romance shows hence one can easily guess what was going to happen next. But why I still thought this was streamable was mostly due to the two lead characters. Especially their chemistry together was undeniable. Most of times when people gush about on-screen couples' chemistry, I could hardly agree. The first time I could agree was in Queen and I, which starred Ji Hyun Woo and Yoo In Na. The second being Xu Kai and Wu Jing Yan in Yanxi Palace and Royal Feast. And this, is the third time.

Synopsis (taken from MyDramaList):

Xu Qing You is a hard-working, focused woman with a senior position at an up-and-coming firm. She is devoted to her job and is also in a relationship with Fan Yun Xi, whom she has been dating for 10 years. They are planning to wed in the near future, but when she discovers he had a fling with another woman, she is incensed and decides to break off the engagement. She later heads to a bar to drink away her sorrows. At the bar, a man named Mo Ling Ze performs a musical number on stage. She recognizes him as a man she’d run into earlier in the day in the street and had a minor and slightly unpleasant exchange of words with. She is very drunk and starts talking to him. The next day, she wakes up in a hotel room with only vague recollections of the end of the night, assuming that she has had a one-night stand with him. To her horror, she turns up to a meeting the next day...only to discover that Mo Ling Ze has taken over the operations at her company. The duo is forced to spend time together, but eventually realizes that they have a lot in common and appreciate one another’s charms. Meanwhile, her former fiancé is desperate to win back Xu Qing You’s heart. Will she return to her former love, or could a new romance be in the cards for her?

The Great:

The couple to ship in this of course! They've had such great chemistry since Yanxi Palace which was why it was so heartbreaking in that drama, yet so heartwarming to see them finally be together again in this series. Oh~ The sweet romance.

The Good:

If you've ever watched animes like Shokugeki no Soma and Yakitate Japan, where they not only showcase delicacies but also show you part of the process. You get to learn the names of different dishes and how they make certain dishes in the past without modern technology, via the art of cooking.

There isn't exactly a very evil character nor an evil faction so you don't get too agitated while watching. A strong and clever female lead is always welcomed, so that you feel the triumph when she beats everyone else who tries to take her down with her own strengths and wits. Some characters just make you roll your eyes at them, but that's about it.

The Bad:

What is good about this show is also a bad point. Because there isn't really an evil faction, the politics in this show, whether it is in the kitchen or in court, is too tamed compared to other period pieces so you don't really get a build up, then a climax and then an underdog counter attack from the protagonist at the end.

The Ugly:
